PROJECTS

Hepatic TGFbeta1 in Control of Type2 Diabetes Mellitus and NASH via Foxo1 Signaling

This project investigates the role of hepatokine TGFbeta1 in diabetes and liver function of mice.

Targeting Insulin Resistance by Estrogen Receptor in Control of Type 2 Diabetes

The goal of the project is to investigate how estrogen receptor enhances insulin sensitivity via interaction with the insulin receptor substrate system.

Oral Delivery of Insulin Using Ligand-directed Nanoparticles That Do Not Compete with Physiological Ligands

The primary objective of this project is to deliver oral insulin to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Nutrient-sensing GHS-R in Macrophage Reprogramming and Inflammaging

The primary objective of this project is to determine how ghrelin receptor regulates immunometabolism and macrophage function in the aging of mice.

The role of GHS-R in Macrophage Reprogramming During Meta-Inflammation

The primary objective of this project is to investigate how ghrelin receptor regulates insulin sensitivity via macrophage polarization and inflammation.

Control of Liver Fibrosis and Failure by Insulin Resistance via Forkhead Signaling

This project is to determine the novel role of Foxo1 in liver fibrosis and insulin resistance failure, focusing on its role in cellular communication between the hepatocytes and stellate cells (HSC) in the development of fatty liver, inflammation, and fibrosis.

Forkhead Signaling in Control of Renin-Angiotensin System in Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

The goal of this project is to determine how insulin resistance crosstalk to the renin-angiotensin system via the forkhead transcription factor controlling metabolic and cardiovascular disease. Angiotensinogen, the precursor of angiotensin II, was proposed as a novel gene target of Foxo1 in the liver which is involved with blood pressure regulation.

Transcriptional Regulation of Metabolic and Hepatic Homeostasis by FoxO Signaling

The goal of this project is to explore the novel function of Foxo1 in glucose homeostasis, focusing on its potential role in glucagon signaling in hepatocytes of mice.

Transcriptional Regulation of Nutrient Homeostasis by Forkhead Signaling in the Liver

This project is to determine the Foxo1 and Foxo3 in liver in control of blood glucose and lipids, focusing on its role in insulin sensitivity.

Novel Therapeutic for Autoimmune Diseases

The aim of this project was to study therapeutic interventions for the treatment of diabetes mellitus by antibody intervention.
